Time for another Imbolc Reading!

Keeping a tradition by repeating a spread designed specifically for a feast day in the Wheel of the Year can give you a sense of comfort and continuity - especially if you go back over last year's reading before doing a new one.

Because this post is written in the days leading up to Imbolc, I have decided to share a reading with the Imbolc spread I created last year. This time, I used the Wild Unknown Tarot and the Anubis Oracle.

The theme for the spread was 'How can I be a better candle?' and my inspiration came from a poem by W.R. Hunt (see original post).

  1. My meditation practice (Connecting with Spirit)
  2. A feeling of the presence of God (Fire)
  3. Wisdom to know (Spirit)
  4. Work without which the world would feel poorer (Earth)
  5. A mind unafraid to travel (Air)
  6. An understanding heart/friendships (Water)
1. 7 of Cups - my main spiritual topic to explore and master in 2013 is Lucid Dreaming. The 7 of Cups is a good fit for this and tells me that my dreamwork would benefit from going deep in meditation.
2. The Hierophant - teaching is where i feel this presence and life force most strongly.
3. Nut and Geb - this card signifies completion of a cycle of transformation and readiness to step out into the world with 'sacred purpose and a strong sense of your wholeness.' This cards is akin to The World card in the Tarot and that is the central card in this year's solar return reading which I did a couple of weeks ago. Nice resonance!
4. Son of Wands - sharing my passion and enthusiasm! :)
5. Son of Swords - he pretty much embodies this quality... woohoo!
6. 9 of Wands - a card of discernment and a strong sense of self in all types of relating. Past experience serves as protection.

I have never associated the Seven of Cups with Lucid Dreaming - definitely one to put in my tarot journal :)

Sorry Lisa! Because I have this deck I noticed that you have Son of Wands and not Ace of Wands at position 4! How does the meaning change?

Hi Glenda, well spotted. It's a typo more or less... Meaning is the same for position four :) Will edit not - Thank you!

Boy, I must have been tired when I typed this out - noticed another typo - didn't mean to call the Son of Swords the 'Knight of Swords' even though he obviously is... :)
