This reading is based on the layout and card meanings/combinations I shared in the Ancient Swedish Fortune-telling with Playing Cards series.
Before laying the cards out in four rows of nine cards each, you remove the Jokers and the 2-5's. Shuffle and cut as usual. There is no ritual for how to lay the cards out included in Sibyllans Hemligheter.
Below is the reading I did for myself earlier today (pic at top of post):
The 7th and 13th cards in front of the signifier (usually the Queen of cups for a lady and King of cups for a gentleman) are paid extra attention in this type of reading. In front of the Queen (the way she is facing), they are the 6 of Diamonds and Queen of Spades respectively.
The 6 of Diamonds singifies wishes fulfilled; news of distant acquaintances; travels. If the 9 of Spades is found left of the 6 of Diamonds, it signifies the 'final journey,' i.e. death.
If the 6 of Diamonds is found next to the 9 of Spades and the 10 of Spades is in the same row, it means illness and possibly death.
Phew! Close one there... luckily it was the TEN and not the NINE!
The Queen of Spades means backstabbing by a person I have helped. The nearest courtier - Jack of Hearts - reveals that she is fair (a black card would mean she is dark).
Backstabbing by people (yes, more than one person) I have helped has been a theme this year, as it happens, and I suppose this means it won't end any time soon... You get used to all sorts.
The 7th card behind the signifier is the 7 of Diamonds - there aren't enough cards left for the 13th card.
The 7 of Diamonds signifies a minor gift of gold, silver or other metal... perhaps by the nearby King of Hearts?
The King of Diamonds next to the Queen of Cups signifier has the following meaning:
You will become acquainted with a person who will grow into a great friend. The King of Spades does not have its meaning altered by proximity to the signifier and the rather grim meaning reads:
King: revenge, punishment, injustice; also, sad news. The bad meanings of the King are counteracted if it falls under the Queen of Spades.
There are no significant multiples in this reading.
This will have to do to start with. I will return to this reading when I have more time on my hands!
